Great Spanish School

I have been down to Grenada, Nicaragua many times working as a volunteer at the local hospital and studied with the teachers of the Nicaragua Mia Spanish School on one of my first trips down to Nicaragua. It has been a great help to me to be able to speak Spanish and the school did an excellent job helping me to reach some level of fluency.

The school was not only great for learning Spanish but also a lot of fun. Teaching is done one on one with a native speaker who is a graduate of the local university, definitely the best way to learn a language, but then also every afternoon is a different activity which is usually quite interesting. While I was there we went hiking on a local volcano, swimming in an old volcanic lake, had dancing class, and one night made a typical Nicaraguan dinner from scratch.

Grenada itself is quite a beautiful place to visit with many interesting things to see in the city itself and nearby. I would highly recommend a homestay also which gives you a further chance to study Spanish and sample local cuisine. The city seems very safe also; I never had any concerns walking around the downtown section at night and have not heard of anyone else there having a problem .

If you like to be active and do something worthwhile during your vacation time the school experience there in Grenada really can’t be beat!
